Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Engineering

Kilan’s extensive transportation industry and project experience provides us with a unique approach to ITS and ETCS design, one based on an understanding of the complete ITS and ETCS planning, design and operational lifecycle, working knowledge of established and emerging traffic management and toll collection technologies and practical understanding of the goals and objectives of not only design, construction and implementation teams, but also operators and end users.

Our ITS and ETCS engineering services include requirements documentation, tracing and feasibility review, the evaluation of technical and design-level alternatives, systems engineering, preliminary and conceptual ITS and ETCS design, the development of architectural and Concept of Operations (ConOps) documentation, the development of plans, specifications and estimates (PS&E) and advisory technical support throughout planning, construction and system implementation.

Electrical & Illumination Engineering.

Kilan provides services including coordination throughout the planning of highway electrical and illumination systems that address project-specific illumination design requirements, the development of Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E) and the provision of construction phase services, including the review of third-party submittals, coordination with utility providers during the installation and/or modification of electrical services and the provision of field-level construction inspection and observation.

Fiber Optic Telecommunications Design.

Kilan provides fiber optic design services including planning and schematic design, cable splicing and termination planning, multi-disciplinary technical coordination, value engineering and alternatives analysis, the development of fiber optic standards and specifications, and procurement-level and construction phase support.
